It wasn’t your fault that you didn’t learn about money… but it is now.

At some point in your life, if you’d like to retire, you will need enough money to your name to live for 20, 30, or more years without fucking working.

This is a scary thought for most people, and often a hard fact that most people choose to ignore. I hate to say it, but newsflash motherfuckers… whether you acknowledge this fact or not, it’s still not going to change reality.

You will have to overcome inflation, economy downturns, and weather all storms to come out on top.

Why in the name of fuck on jezebel doesn’t anybody teach you how to do this throughout the course of your life? We all go to elementary school, on to high school, potentially to college, and then to the military. And NOWHERE along the way does anyone teach you how to manage a budget, what the fuck compound interest is, or how to invest in assets that build wealth.

Unless you work for a very specific company or municipality, chances are you’re not getting a pension. Hell, gone are the days of the “high-3” retirement even in the military. You’re going to have to be smart, and start as early as you can.

I’m not telling you all this to discourage you or hurt your feelings. I’m telling you this with the hopes that these words bitch slap you in the face with a hard dose of reality to change the way you spend, earn and save money.

If you really had all this in mind, would you really go buy that new, big dick truck off the lot that you’re thinking about buying? Probably not.

The sad part of this is that most people are basically fucked. They will ignore all of this and live beyond their means, living paycheck to paycheck, and then wonder why they’re still working every day at 86 years old.

But you don’t have to be like them. You can be different.

None of this is your fault (up to this point). I blame a broken education system. One that creates little worker bees that fit into the system of employees and companies. Some take it a step further and say it’s a giant conspiracy to keep you handcuffed to consumerism, employers, and the government, but that’s not something I’m getting into today.

Do you know what IS your fault? Continuing to bury your head in the sand and not educate yourself on how to get the fuck ahead financially. Put down the mindless brain rot you waste your time on with your face buried in your phone and pick up a fucking finance book. If you’re a visual learner, ditch the bullshit TikToks and watch some finance youtube videos. Immerse yourself in the language and the terminology, and the strategy.

If you’ve ever had the joy of paying bills for any amount of time, you understand that money is very important. It is a key instrument in determining how great or how shitty your life will be. It can be a constant stressor in your life, or it can be a security blanket in case shit goes south.

With how important money is, wouldn’t it make sense to learn as much about it as you can? The best part about this is that financial education is fucking free. Information you can get just from YouTube can get you plenty educated in the world of personal finance.

Getting your shit straight financially may seem like an insurmountable feat, but as with anything great, the way to build your finances up starts by lying that first block, and then the block after that, in small steps piece by piece.

It all starts with a decision. A decision that you’re not going to live this bullshit paycheck to paycheck lifestyle anymore. That you don’t want to keep up with the joneses by building nothing but debt. That you want a better financial future for yourself, and that that you’re going to dedicate time to learning about money and making it work FOR you instead of AGAINST you.

It’s going to require some lifestyle changes. Nothing worth having is easy.

But you can do it. So today, instead of doomscrolling on your phone, watch some Dave Ramsey or The Money Guy Show or whatever speaks to you. Chat GPT that shit.

Or don’t. Be the 86 year old working at Home Depot. But don’t say we didn’t warn you.
